City of Helena seeking community input for Downtown Multimodal Plan

A survey will be available at BeHeardHelena.com through April 4.

The City of Helena is seeking public input for a Downtown Helena Multimodal Plan. The plan is currently in the Visioning Phase, which will help the City identify potential issues, as well as opportunities for improvement. The City has published a survey at BeHeardHelena.com that will be available through April 4.

In addition to the survey, the public is encouraged to use an interactive commenting map on the plan website to share concerns, thoughts, and ideas with the project team. Information gathered during the visioning phase will help guide development of the plan. The public can subscribe to updates through the Be Heard Helena project page to receive notifications about upcoming opportunities for engagement.

The Downtown Helena Multimodal Plan will be completed in three phases: Visioning, Improvement Options, and Recommendations. Public and stakeholder engagement will be conducted throughout all phases of the planning process. The phased approach helps to ensure that the planning team provides meaningful outreach opportunities, receives feedback on critical needs, properly identifies barriers and constraints early in the planning process, and develops feasible improvements to implement in the community.

The area of focus for this planning effort will be within the Helena Downtown Business Improvement District (BID). The plan will also consider connections between the broader Helena transportation system and the Downtown area.

The Downtown Helena Multimodal Plan will blend several of the City’s past plans and studies into one document that will prioritize projects and identify areas of infrastructure potential and inadequacy. Ultimately, the plan will identify feasible options to provide safe and efficient connections between the Centennial Trail, Great Northern, Downtown core, and the walking mall to promote a unified and connected Downtown.
