Mount Ascension has several trail access points, one of which is the DeFord trailhead, located southeast of the S. Davis Street and Flora Street Intersection. This trailhead offers access to the lower west end of the Mount Ascension trail system. A highlight of the area is the DeFord Trail. The Deford Trail parallels the Davis Street that travels up Dry Gulch. This trail has a moderate grade and is wide making it a great candidate for those who would like to walk side by side with a companion on a less arduous trail. Deford trail as an out and back on the south can be expected to take about 40 minutes to complete a roundtrip. This trailhead offers pet waste bags and trash receptacles.
