Street and Sidewalk

HELENA, Mont. – On April 3, Helena Sand and Gravel began work on the Rodney Street Phase II reconstruction project, which will continue over the next few months. Most of the remaining work will be between 9th and 11th avenues. Construction includes new water main, curb and gutter, sidewalks, landscaping, and asphalt paving.

The construction activity will extend onto the cross streets approximately 100 ft. During the construction process, sections of Rodney Street will be closed to thru traffic. The intersection of 11th Ave. and Rodney St. will be closed for approximately three periods, lasting up to a week for each period:

  • One period for the water main installation.
  • A second period for the curb/gutter and sidewalk installation.
  • The last period for pavement removal, gravel grading, and asphalt paving.

Before each closure a public notification will be released. At times, access for local residence and business will be challenging but will be accommodated when project scope allows. When drive approaches are closed, a safe pedestrian path will be maintained and delineated.

During the installation of the new water main, there will be temporary 8-hour water shutdowns. A notice will be handed out in advance to each of the properties that will be affected. In addition, some properties will need to be placed on temporary water hook ups. Those places will be contacted individually. The construction site is small and will result in limited parking. Please be cautious and obey all traffic signs and construction personnel.
