HELENA, Mont. – The City of Helena will host neighborhood planning workshops March 20-22 at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Montana Chapter building (1331 Helena Ave). The sessions will feature open studio hours where people can drop-in and engage with the project team. There will be displays and maps to review with multiple ways to provide input. The workshop schedule is:

March 20
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Drop-in Studio)

March 21
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Drop-in Studio)

6-8 p.m. (Planning Board Work Session)

March 22
9 a.m. to Noon (Drop-in Studio)

The workshops are designed to craft a vision for the Railroad/Midtowne district neighborhood plan. The district is loosely defined, generally encompassing the area around the 6th Ward to Last Chance Gulch to the West, and including an area around Helena Middle School.

The vision will build off a series of interviews conducted by SCJ Alliance - the contractor developing the neighborhood plan and who also crafted the City’s 2019 Growth Policy - in November of 2022. The neighborhood plan will serve as a guide for policy, planning, and zoning in the area.

The purpose of the workshops is to gather input and feedback from the community to create a shared vision for the Railroad/Midtowne neighborhood. Residents, community leaders, and stakeholders are invited to attend and participate in this important event.
